Our Spa Senior Ladies travelled to Abbeydorney for round 3 in division 4 of the Corrib Oil Senior Club League. Despite missing a good few players to injury & illness Spa had a great start with the majority of possession. There was wides on both sides with Spa frustratingly missing a few score-able frees but still finished the first half with a good lead 1-05 to 0-02.
Abbeydorney came out in the second half now with the wind at their back determined to reduce Spa’s lead and they did just that with some strong and fast attacks. Again Spa will rue their wides and maybe poor decision makings in the second half. Niamh Quinn was a huge impact sub for Abbeydorney and her speed troubled Spa’s strong defence. Abbeydorney reduced the gap while also keeping Spa scoreless in the second half which led to a very exciting finish with Spa one point up with two minutes to go , they tried to hold possession but Abbeydorney turned it over and ran at the Spa backs to score the equaliser in the final minute. Final score was 1-05 to 0-08. Spa now qualify for the league final against Clounmacon/Moyane, time, date and neutral venue is yet tbc.
